“Effects of Exposure to Ambient Air Pollution on Human Metabolome in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease”

We are excited to share that a new paper led by Dr. Cathy Duan Wang, Dr. Donghai Liang, and colleagues has been published in Environmental Science & Technology. This study leveraged high-resolution metabolomics and advanced spatiotemporal air pollution modeling to examine how short- and long-term exposures to CO, NOx, and PM₂.₅ influence metabolic pathways among patients with coronary artery disease. The team identified widespread perturbations across amino acid, lipid, carbohydrate, and vitamin metabolism, along with 38 Level 1 confirmed metabolites.
