NASA Data for Environmental Justice
NASA’s satellites capture critical environmental data—tracking air pollution, land surface temperatures, and greenspace changes over time. But how can this data support environmental justice efforts?
In collaboration with Emory scientists, the Center for Sustainable Communities, and Atlanta residents, we explored how NASA data can help communities understand and address climate impacts. Through workshops and community discussions, we mapped key environmental variables, identified local concerns, and connected data insights to real-world experiences.
Our findings highlight the power of satellite data in shaping solutions—from informing urban greenspace policies to addressing air quality and heat risks. By making this data accessible, we empower communities to advocate for a healthier, more sustainable future.
