HERCULES Community Partner Award: Karla Blaginin

Karla Blaginin is a Stakeholder Advisory Board member who, through her advocacy for the Latino  community in Atlanta, has expanded the reach of HERCULES to this community. Karla’s work has included:

  • The creation of the Local Foods Accountability Model (LFAM) for evaluating farmers markets to ensure that they reflect the local community.
  • The Mexican Fruit Cup Project included Latina mothers and students and led to the inclusion of this cultural staple in the Gwinnett County Public Schools menus, simultaneously addressing this issue of food waste in school cafeterias.
  • Bringing the Clarence “Shaheed” DuBois Roadshow and Community Grant Program to her community, engaging a group of Latina mothers around their health concerns.
